How Italy’s Most Stylish City Inspired Tancoa’s New 230-foot Hybrid Yacht

The beautiful new superyacht concept Tankoa is an icon of the Italian fashion capital.

Christened Milan This 230-foot boat is inspired by the city of Milan and combines elegant design with the latest maritime innovations. She is one of the largest yachts in the Tankoa collection, second only to the 236-foot Solo and the 230-foot Suerte.

The ship, which was unveiled by the Italian shipyard at the Dubai International Boat Show over the weekend, was designed in collaboration with Mario Bedol and his team at the Nauta Design Studio in Milan. Modern yet sophisticated, the yacht has an elegant design and classic Made in Italy style.

Starting at the stern, the beach club includes a lounge with a convertible gym, a relaxation area with a sauna and massage room, an outdoor pool and folding hull platforms that open to create lounge chairs at the water’s edge. Tankava says the rear sunroom can also be personalized to leave your mark on Milan.

Moving to the main deck, the upper deck has an open-air lounge that leads to the main salon and dining area. In the bow there are two large VIP cabins with retractable balconies, a galley and a garage capable of accommodating two vessels. Below on the lower deck are four guest cabins, another garage for water toys and diving equipment, 12 crew cabins and a crew gym. In addition, the lower deck is equipped with a single-deck engine room, providing direct passage from the guest quarters to the beach club.

The upper floor is entirely dedicated to the owner. Forward is the owner’s stateroom with a walk-in closet, dual bathrooms and office, and aft is a rooftop lounge and al fresco dining area. The deck also provides direct access to the private swimming pool and helipad on the bow of the ship.

There is a wheelhouse, a captain’s cabin and a cinema on the upper floor on the bridge. There is also a sun terrace and another outdoor seating area with a bar, several sun beds and two L-shaped sofas.

For Grant, the Milano is equipped with a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain consisting of four CAT C32 variable speed generators and two 1,650-kilowatt electric motors. This installation gives the yacht a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and also powers the hotel payload. Tankwa said the ship will also be equipped with fuel cells that will provide up to 200 kilowatts of power. The company says it will start out using methanol fuel cells, but may switch to hydrogen as the technology develops. This means that Milan is not only stylish, but also eco-friendly.
